Crazy Week
Things here have been pretty hectic for the past couple of days. I've been home ALOT. Today was the first day I got out of the house, and it was wonderful. I started getting sick on Wednesday of last week. I figured I just had a cold because I do work with sick kids all the time. I figured I had just caught a bug from one of them. I continued to get worse. I finally went to the doctor on Friday a couple of hours before I was supposed to work a 12 hour shift. The doctor told me I may be getting an ear infection, but it wasn't one yet. My rapid strep test came back negative, so I went on to work. I worked two nights in a row feeling miserable. My ears hurt so bad and I couldn't swallow anything. I was in so much pain. Before I went home on Sunday morning, I asked one of our docs to look in my ears again. I now had a full fledged ear infection in both ears. That is very odd because most people only get them in 1 ear. When I got home on Sunday morning, I checked my messages just to have one from my doctor. I called back to learn that my culture had grown out strep G which is very odd also because people usually get strep B. Needless to say, I went on antibiotics on Sunday. Don also was sick with some sort of cold bug. We decided to change Magoo's dog food just in time for him to get sick also. It is a happy house of nothing but eating soup and sleeping. Don was able to stay home for the holiday on Monday and I called in sick finally. We sat in the house and slept. I've never been so sick of being sick. It was a yucky week. But never fear, things are definitely on the rise. Don feels well and I am getting better. Magoo is slowly starting to take to his food (digestive wise). The sun has came back out in "Sunny California" and things are getting better!!! I am so happy to get to go outside and eat solid food. It's the little things in life that can make you happy...

One Marvelous Year
Today was our 1 year wedding anniversary. It is hard to believe that it has already been a year. It has truly been a fun year. We have been able to do so many things together and make so many new memories. We have been able to learn MANY new and exciting things about being married and about each other. For our anniversary, we were able to spend some time in downtown San Diego. We stayed at a hotel The US Grant on the 11th floor in a penthouse suite. It was a beautiful old European style hotel. We were able to walk down to the harbor and take a dinner boat cruise on the Lord Hornblower and see the skyline of the city from the water in the dark. It was beautiful. We cruised from Coronado to the tip of Point Loma. What a beautiful city to see. We then spent some more time walking on Saturday afternoon. We went to eat at the Hard Rock Cafe San Diego and went shopping at Horton Plaza on Broadway Street. We had a mini vacation just 30 minutes from our house. Another exciting thing that happened for us today was finally finding a church home. We joined Community Bible Church. I am so exciting to see where the Lord is going to lead at this church. A good start to another year of marriage.

God's giant hand in a vast universe
This has been an interesting year for us. We have had some MAJOR life changes going on. In all of it, though, we have been able to see the hand of God leading. This is amazing because if you think how large and vast the universe is and how minute my life is in comparison; God still leads. He is still concerned with me and where I am and what I am doing. God has blessed in so many ways. He has opened up every door for us and made the transition an ordinary daily task. We had amazing friends in Durham that helped orchestrate the moving process and were received by some more friends, many we had never met, in San Diego to complete the task. That is definitely a God thing. I couldn't imagine going through life making decisions without know that I have the hand of God leading through a future that is open to anything.

Auld Lang Syne
2008...already...wow! Lots of things have happened this year. Most of you already know all those things, so I won't go through them all. It has been an amazing year. There was a question posed at the bottom of the FoxNews broadcast of the New York City's New Year's bash in Time Square. The question asked, "Do you think that your 2008 will be better than your 2007?" At first I thought negatively about this question. How could anyone ever say "no?" I thought that was so pathetic that people may actually think that 2008 will be worse from the very beginning. Then someone who was at our party brought up the point that maybe their 2007 was just so good, they can't even begin to think that 2008 could be even better. What an amazing thought. Our 2007 was great, but I know that God will bless just as much in 2008. This is the glory of putting your faith and hope in Jesus Christ. Everyone makes some sort of New Year's Resolution. I never make the typical ones because I think their dumb and they're never kept. But this year, I think that I will determine one resolution to hold fast. I think that I need to think more positively in the since that 2007 was a great year, but God is going to bless in 2008 as well. He will bless us if we glorify him. What a way to ring in the new year. Not just thanking God for 2007, but thanking and glorifying Him for 2008 as well. On that note, Happy New Year!!!
